WHY TELANGANA IS FAKE !
Andhra Pradesh was formed in 1956, after amalgamation of the Hyderabad and Andhra regions. Hyderabad state was ruled by the Nizam i.e a Muslim king, and it contained Telangana region telugus as the minority.
The only similiarity between the two regions was common language Telugu. But, there have been many differences in terms of culture, dialect and socio-spheres.
Andhra Pradesh, on account of its cultural diversity is divided in three regions, the North West region called as Telangana, the Southern region called Rayalaseema, and the Eastern region called as Andhra
After the formation of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad became the capital city, and hence attracted people from all parts of the state. Hyderabad is called as Hi-Tech city nowadays and is the Financial capital of Andhra Pradesh. It has Innumerable Jobs, Entertainment, Stadiums, Multiplexes, Film Studios, Commercial Shopping Complexes, Govt Offices & Excellent Versatile business structure.
During the past decades, people from Andhra have accounted for 80-90 percent of the wealthiest/famous/powerful people in Hyderabad. Almost 80-90% of the jobs in Govt are occupied by Andhra-Seema people. It is not their error for living in Hyderabad, because Hyderabad being the Capital, by default attracts all kinds of talent & Investors. When Hyderabad has become the capital for the state, then any body can come and live in Hyderabad.
But, some Telangana people believe, they have not been given proper treatment in the State affairs, they have least jobs in Govt offices, their development in many spheres is damn low. They demand a separate Telangana state, as they believe, huge amount of the Revenue of Andhra Pradesh is received from Telangana. They believe creating a separate state will bring great Employment opportunities for Telangana people.
Though there have been many movements for such a separate state. But in recent years the following were important.
It was in 2001, when TDP was the party-in-power in Andhra Pradesh and had 180 seats out of 294 seats in Legislative Assembly.
(1) K.Chandra Sekhar Rao, (KCR) who belonged to the TDP party, resigned along with many MLA’s , quit the party, and formed his own party called as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). He formed an alliance with TDP.
(2) During 2004 Elections, he aligned with Congress party and won 26 Assembly seats, and formed the Govt.
(3) Again in Sep 2006 KCR triggered a by-election in his Lok Sabha constituency of Karim Nagar and won.
(4) Again in April 2008, TRS MLA’s and MP’s resigned because the Govt did not give a separate Telangana State. The result was it lost 9 Assembly seats and 2 MP seats, which was a big blow to the party.
(5) In 2009 Elections, KCR tied-up with old friend TDP, this time it won 10 Assembly Seats, and only 2 Lok Sabha seats. But, this didn’t help TRS party as Congress won the election again.
(6) After the death of CM Y.RajaSekhar Reddy (YSR), KCR again started Telangana movement. In Dec 2009 he started a fast-unto-death for separate Telangana state. He was assured by the Central Govt to start initiatives for the state. Later all his 10 MLA’s resigned, and won 11 MLA seats.
It is to be noted that even after 10 years of starting a movement for Telangana State, KCR has been unable to get a separate state. Again we find him threatening the PM on formation of Telangana, for which many Congress & TDP MLA’s have offered their resignation.
Every now and then we find Bandh’s or Forced Holidays, because of the Telangana Movement. In Dec 2009, many semester exams were postponed and it caused 2 months delay for exams and for the results, and jeopardized the next semester for students. Normal life was disturbed. Closure of Petrol Pumps caused sale of Petrol at Black market rates. Many shops were closed, causing loss to businessmen, and scarcity for consumers. Many properties were damaged. People were afraid to move out.
It is very bad to know 40-50% of admissions for International Students in Osmania University have fallen in 2010-2011 year, when compared to 2009 Admissions. This is certainly because of the ruckus created during the agitation in the University, loss of classes and suicides by the students. This certainly will bring Financial Losses to the great and old University.
It is sad to know, TRS party has been weakening, Election after Election, and has just 10 MLA’s in total of 294 which is 3.4% of the whole Assembly. It would be very difficult for such a weak party.
With such dedication by KCR, it makes us feel, KCR is not much interested in Telangana, and raises the issue every 4 months and keeps quiet. Majority of the Telangana supporters have lost faith in KCR because of him keeping mum after some days of agitation.
If KCR realy wants a separate state, he should start a fast-unto-death just like Potti Sreeramulu who died for Andhra Pradesh in 1952. Atleast he should work hard realistically and may be this way Telangana can be achieved.
